My name is Doctor Kathleen King. And I will be your guide. I’d love to tell you a little about myself before we begin. I’m a physical therapist, a neuroscience educator, and the proud founder of the Primal Trust Academy And Community. I’m also a mom of 2 awesome kiddos and we live in Southern Utah with my partner, Erin.
I am passionate about being in nature, going on adventures and, of course, helping others with their transformation process. So thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to be one of your guides in your healing and transformation process. I have been really working hard the last couple of years. I’m putting this program together, and I am so happy to finally be able to share it with the world. I wanna start though by acknowledging you for taking the steps to improve your health and getting the support you need.
I know firsthand how much strength encourage it requires to take these steps to recover from emotional, mental, and physical challenges, especially when you’ve been struggling or suffering for months or even years. I created this program because I know that a high percentage of physical and mental and emotional illness is either caused or made worse by a chronic stress response of the nervous system. In this primal trust regulate program, we’re gonna learn strategies to reverse this stress response. And yes, even reverse the chronic illness symptoms, primarily by targeting the limbic system of the brain and the vagus nerve as well as increasing your conscious capacity to be with and process the difficult emotions and triggers. If you’re wondering if your particular situation is actually being influenced by your brain or your nervous system, or maybe you’re wondering at this program is even the right fit for you.
I’d like to share a list of symptoms and conditions that this program was designed for. As I read this list, make a note to yourself. Do you identify with any of them? And if you do, please know that participating in this program will likely be of great benefit to you. If you struggle with low energy, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, mood swings, Sleep issues, excessive worrying ruminating, expecting negative future outcomes, poor concentration break brain fog memory issues, Constance body scanning, noticing body issues, sensing pain or disturbances in the body, issues with addiction, or obsessive thoughts, Hiding perception of smell sound light taste, heightened sensitivity to medications, foods, or other substances, Emotional outbreaks rage, irritation, nervousness, difficulty with relationships, and unhealthy attachment patterns.
Avoidance of social situations, feelings of I can’t cope, overwhelm, or hopelessness, chronic health issues despite trying several treatments and doctors inability to process trauma and heal despite therapies and treatments. Common conditions and diagnosis related to a chronic stress response include mental health issues like anxiety, panic, and depression, PTSD and other trauma that lead to behaviors of avoidance, codependency attachment issues, procrastination, hypervigilance, autoimmune issues, chronic infections and chronic illness like Lyme disease, chronic fatigue, chronic viral infections, chronic COVID or long haul COVID, pots, which is postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, cell danger response, wall toxicity, multiple chemical sensitivities, allergies, EMF sensitivities, hormone imbalances, pending taxification issues. Chronic pain, fibromyalgia, digestive issues such as sebum, irritable bowel syndrome, or lifestyle issues. Maybe you’re not physically ill, but a chronic stress response is affecting your relationships. Your life purpose, your clarity, inhibiting your ability to have deep personal transformation.
Do you wrestle with any of these symptoms or conditions? If so, take a deep breath in. Exhale and relax. You are in the right place taking this course. In fact, very soon, it is likely that most If not, all of your symptoms will finally make sense.
That’s right. You make sense. Your body has been exhibiting complicated confusing symptoms, but there is an underlying factor, dysregulated nervous system. This is limiting your body’s ability to heal itself. And after taking this program, you will have a very clear understanding of the root cause of the chronic health issues that you have been dealing with.
And you’ll learn scientifically proven evidence based tools to help you resolve these conditions. In summary, chronic unresolved stress and poor self care. Plus, a history of injury, trauma, toxic exposure, or infection lead to chronic symptoms physically, emotionally, and mentally. Well, the good news is that by learning and implementing the knowledge and tools I’m about to give you, you can rewire your brain and nervous system’s way of responding to stress and dramatically improve your health. You know, I remember when I first realized that impaired brain and nervous system regulation capacity was preventing my recovery from debilitating health conditions.
After all of the years of doctors and treatments and research, it finally made sense that my inability to move out of a chronic stress response was limiting my body’s ability to heal, but it seemed too simple that all of those diagnosis I had had a common link. I was perplexed. Why did not any of my earlier practitioners give me explicit focus to regulating my brain and nervous system. And frankly, I am still amazed at how many practitioners are completely missing the boat by not addressing this root cause contributing to many chronic illness and mental health conditions. I believe that these tools should be taught early in our life to manage the stress of being a human and living in a world of uncertainty and trials so that we can maintain our health and vitality and enjoy safe, loving relationships.
I personally use these tools that I share with you a brain retraining and nervous system regulation to recover from debilitating chronic illness and mental health challenges. I know these tools are highly effective in helping to improve your health. And frankly, I believe that nervous system regulation is important for pretty much everyone because the majority of the problems we face today in our society are largely related to unmanaged stress responses. What you will learn in this program is that through nervous system self regulation practices, you can improve your abodies ability to handle emotional stress chemical toxins, pathogens, food allergens, and so much more. And you can do all of this without medication.
Self directed neuroplasticity exercises are the most affordable and empowering way to shift your health and improve your functional capacity in life. In fact, what do we are doing in this program is carving neural pathways of primal trust, and what is primal trust? It is the innate sense of safety in your body and a trust in life itself. This is how I’ve taught now many others around the world to find alleviation from their symptoms, as well as inner freedom. This foundational level 1 self healing program is a process of teaching you how to live in a state of primal trust.
Even if there are imperfections in what is happening around you or in your body. This counterintuitive mindset of finding your primal trust amidst life triggers results in improved mental health, immune function, digestive health, and a conjunction sleep, and so much more. You might be wondering what we’re going to cover. Here are some of the questions you might have. What is wrong with me?
Why did this happen? What can I do to help myself heal? How do I use the tools of this program? What are the outcomes of these practices? And where do I go from here?
In the regulate program, we are going to learn how the chronic stress response can cause or contribute to all of the physical and mental health challenges we just described early year. We’re gonna learn how a regulated nervous system is the key to mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Some of the key topics we’re going to cover are chronic stress response, dysregulated nervous system, chronic illness redefined, lymbic system impairment, neuroplasticity, polybagal theory, and autonomic nervous system regulation, Vegas nerve toning, somatics, brain rewiring or brain retraining, self regulation, Bear with me as I describe each of these in a bit more detail. This understanding will help you with the rest of the program, so be sure that each one of these concepts becomes familiar to you. Chronic stress response is the condition in which the brain is stuck in a perpetual state of producing stress hormone biochemistry.
This becomes the normal set point of experience of the body and results in physical changes of the brain nervous system, and cells to adapt. We move into an ongoing survival threat response in our brain and nervous system, and chronic stress becomes our default operating mode of the brain and body. A dysregulated nervous system is the result of chronic stress in which the autonomic nervous system’s ability to return to calm after a stressful trigger is impaired. Chronic illness redefined an ongoing survival response in the brain and nervous system that is a combination of physical, mental, emotional trauma that is not resolving at the cellular level. This results in ongoing symptoms and lack of recovery despite multiple treatments.
The root issue is often nervous system dysregulation. Often from unprocessed emotional, mental, and physical stress, and developmental or relationship attachment trauma. Lymphic system impairment happens in the emotional center of the brain when its threat detectors become overreactive to the internal and external environment. This results in keeping the body stuck in a cycle of chronic illness and inflammation. Again, This is a survival pattern in the brain that is ongoing.
The brain is simply trying to protect you. Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout your life. This means that everything that has been learned or habituated can also be unlearned or rewired. The Polyvago theory is described by Stephen Porges, the Polyvago founder as the theory of how our nervous system state of safety or threat shapes our perception of the world. This theory describes the specific ways the autonomic nervous and responds in different states of stress and specifically focuses on healthy vagus nerve function and social engagement strategies.
Cematics, the body as perceived from within. Cematic practices are used to engage the conscious relationship between the mind, body, brain, and behavior. Cemetics uses the mind body connection to help you survey your internal self either through deep presence or through movements. Using somatic practices, we learn to listen and to respond to signals that your body sends about areas of safety or threat. I think of semantics as the art of developing a loving, safe, responsive, and intimate relationship with your own body.
Brain retraining practices that help rewire the brain to create new neural pathways, restoring healthy function, to a previously dysfunctional system. And lastly, self regulation, the capacity to consciously shift and influence your mental, emotional, and physical health, not to control, but to manage and influence there is a difference. I will tie all of these learnings together into a multifaceted home program to help you regulate your nervous system bring balance to your biochemistry, and allow your body’s innate healing ability to ignite. This program is made up of 8 modules, each with multiple videos, worksheets, visual handouts, guided audio video instruction, and more to help you implement the practices. Please move through this program in order at a pace that suits you.
This is the introduction that we’re going over right now. Module 1 will cover the science of stress, It’s a pretty hefty module with 9 lessons covering things ranging from limbic system impairment, cell danger response, and going over many specific conditions such as Lyme disease, mold toxicity, long haul COVID, and more as it relates to chronic stress and chronic illness. Module 2 is about the Polyvago theory and mapping your nervous system. This understanding is a foundational approach to my program in which I’m going to help you learn to discern where your nervous system is at at all times to be able to know which tool to implement and to be able to do your brain retraining more effectively. Modal 3 is all about vagus nerve toning to improve the function of our autonomic nervous system and regulate the stress response in the body.
Module 4 is our brain retraining home program. It’s another hefty module where you will learn the ins and outs of brain retraining several different options for brain retraining. And you’ll also learn the things to look out for with brain retraining, including resistance patterns and tips to be more successful. Module 5 is about somatic awareness and movement, learning how to become embodied and feel safe in the body. Module 6 is about trauma healing, where you’re gonna learn the sequencing of working with trauma.
And why often we need to go through another level of healing, which I call the primal trust mentorship. We’re also gonna be discussing breath work. And module 7, we’re gonna learn how to put this all together. Live a lifestyle primal trust and go over any next steps that might be needed. Next, I’d like to share my Primal Trust ABC algorithm.
I use an ABC algorithm in my brain retraining program and throughout all of my level 1, level 2, and level 3 materials. It will serve as a type of compass with an integrated theme to weave together all of my teachings to help you implement your learning. The ABC algorithm will teach guiding principles to help you gain a simple understanding of common principles behind self healing. A is for awareness. In the level 1 regulate program, You will first become aware of the root cause of your suffering.
You’ll become aware of what’s causing your nervous system to be dysregulated. You’ll become aware of your habitual, unconscious, stress based habits, thoughts, and feelings. In summary, you will become more consciously aware of your unconscious states of stress. B is body presensing. In the work I teach, I’m focusing on helping you come deeper into your body.
To truly find safety and to feel safety in your body and bring your vital force more fully into your body. You will learn processes of being present, breathing and noticing your body in a new way that allows your nervous system to receive cues of safety so that deep healing can occur. In summary, b is about becoming consciously embodied in the experience of primal trust. C, is for choice and create. You’ll learn how to take back conscious control of your thoughts, feelings, and perspectives.
Rather than being hijacked by the unconscious fear based habits that are running the show behind the scenes. You will learn how to choose to shift your emotional state. How to think greater than you feel, and how to let go of painful beliefs and memories that have been triggering stress patterns inside of you. And from that ability to consciously choose, you would develop the capacity to create a vision of your future and create a brain state that is health promoting. In summary, you will learn how to be the conscious creator of your life.
As you are learning from this program and applying the tools, refer back to this ABC algorithm often and ask yourself a, what is my new awareness right now? B, how can I embody what I have learned or practiced? C, how am I being asked to choose differently and create a new brain state? And when we get to module 4, you’re gonna gain an even deeper understanding of how to use the ABC algorithm in your brain retraining practice. Now, I have a bit more foundational information I’d like to cover before we get into the full program.
Please take time to go through the rest of the video so you have a good awareness of the overall process in the regulate program. Pause here if you need to, and then return to complete the intro video series. This is a detailed slide I wanna go over because it shows the general approach I use to lead people through the process of healing. Think of this as the map of the primal trust healing and transformation process, starting with step 1 over here on the left, awareness, learn the science of nervous system, dysregulation, also known as a chronic stress response. The symptoms are chronic stress and anxiety, chronic illness, trauma patterns, relationship, and attachment stress.
From that awareness, you’re prepared to use the toolkit of implementing nervous system regulation tools. This is what we’re going to learn and regulate tools for polyvagal mapping, vagus nerve toning, brain rewiring somatics. The goal here is to have autonomic nervous system regulation through decreasing your chronic stress response and improving limbic processing of the brain. Now, step 3 might not be for everyone. If there’s no trauma history, you might just move right to step 4 after taking the regulate program.
Step 3 is the inner work. It’s the hero’s journey. This is what I call the primal trust level 2 mentorship where we work on inner attachment repair, trauma response repatterning, and true self discovery with the goals of healing our deep wounding developing our adult main personality and embodying the primal trust frequency. And this leads us to step 4 emerging into the world, living through self purpose and values, committed to being a self regulated sovereign compassionate adult that lives their true purpose. I wanna speak for just a moment about how to move through the regulate program.
Please watch the recordings in order, and join in on the live level 1 Q and As and integration classes and take advantage of the wealth of resources we have here in the community, which I’ll go over in a moment. But most importantly, please know that this is a comprehensive program, meaning it’s not something to just fix yourself really quickly. This is not a simple program with the few simple tools. It’s an entire self mastery of the nervous system as it relates to chronic illness and chronic stress situations. So that being said, please pace yourself as you move through this material.
So if you get overwhelmed, please focus on one module at a time. Just listen and slowly learn the science to gain awareness. Then practice thoroughly and master the tools or ideas presented in that single module before moving forward. Remember, this is a comprehensive program. It is not a single brain retraining course like in some of the other programs.
You will be exercising your brain in multiple ways, and for some of you, you’ll need to move through this program more slowly. I also wanna highlight the tremendous amount of resources and support that you have as part of this community membership. To assist you in your self regulation. We do have one on one mentoring available, and I highly recommend this for most people who are new to this or who are just wanting to have support in a very customized way through the process. I personally had a one on one coach throughout my journey.
I felt like it was an essential part of me being able to properly walk this path. We also have a community forum, and this is really a great place to ask any of your We have a wealth of resource in this community that are here to help you, and it’s available any day of the week. So Please know to come and use the form. It’s there to help you with implementing the process. We have study groups, which we call peer led learning teams.
This is also a very unique part of Primal Trust that doesn’t exist in a lot of other programs where you can meet together and learn how to practice these practices together and gain that support you need. And I will say that from my experience, those who went through my programs in the past, have had way better outcomes when they have participated in a study group. There’s something about that peer led learning that coregulation that really helps the nervous system in its healing process. We have multiple weekly live classes, That’s right. Almost every day of the week, you can come online on Zoom and receive some type of self regulation help In fact, we have a whole new series of classes called brain, body, neural reset, daily drop in classes These are short 15 to 20 minute long classes led by other Primal Trust graduates and myself, where you can get a quick reboot of your brain and nervous system in a group setting.
And, of course, we have a huge video library of past Q and As and other supportive classes that definitely will help you in your journey. And we also have buddy practice meetups which you can find out on the home page. In that way, if you wanna practice with another person, there’s an app that we use where you can meet up with someone else and practice together or listen to other people’s practices. Basically, what you’re seeing here is there is a tremendous amount of support and All of this except for the mentoring is no additional cost, and that is because I want you to have every bit of support that you need to get through this process.
