Module 4 lesson 3. The 5 components of primal trust ABC retraining and the ABC algorithm. The purpose of brain retraining is to desensitize the brain and nervous system to internal and external threats and reverse the unconscious, chronic stress response in the body. The neuroplasticity approach in ABC brain retraining involves mental, rehearsal exercises, creating new thought habit pathways to interrupt habitual stress loops of the brain’s limbic system. It might sound like I’m disengaging from this current unhealthy thinking and behavior pattern, much like we learned in the awareness pattern interrupt.
Be here now practice from module 1. 2, somatic processing, bringing awareness and breath to the body to process emotions, and send messages of safety to the amygdala. This is about being aware of this moment and not resisting it. 3 memory repatterning, teaching the limbic system that it can expect positive things in the future. For creative visualization, engaging the right prefrontal cortex to create a new filter for the mind, by focusing on possibilities and true self expression. As you know, I have an ABC algorithm that I use in my program. And this slide will go over the principles behind ABC. First awareness. In the regulate program, we’ve been becoming aware of the science and the root issue of your condition. Aware of your limbic system response and polyvago state of activation, aware of the thought, feeling, and behavior protection habits to threat, Aware of the difference between your conscious truth self and your protective self, and awareness of our resistance patterns.
B is for body and breath. This is about somatic presence via your breath practices and mindful movement. And the ability to be consciously present in the body while in distress, but without conscious resistance. And as you can tell from the practice that we learn in module 1, your awareness pattern interrupt be here now practice, We’ve already been working on part a and b of the ABC brain retraining technique. C is for choice.
Conscious expansion and creation, choosing to see things differently, choosing to embody your true self and create a different brain state, creating a new biochemical cocktail in your body through emotional elevation. And consciously choosing to live your values even with symptoms. This involves developing primal trust admits life’s triggers and limitations. I often get asked why my program is different from other leading programs. You’re not just learning to reach train your brain. You are learning to retrain your entire nervous system in the regulate program and expand your conscious awareness.
